The Role

The Maintenance Manager role will be focused on ensuring the physical aspects of managed units meet both Doorstead standards and applicable laws. As the Maintenance Manager, you’ll manage, develop, and mentor your team in diagnosing problems and coordinating repairs efficiently. You will provide expert knowledge and trouble-shooting in areas such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, pool, carpentry, drywalling, exterior structure, and appliances. Additionally, you’ll be accountable for establishing and preparing a 24-hour on-call schedule or solution for emergencies. We’re looking for a manager with construction or maintenance experience, a passion for real estate, strong organizational skills, process-oriented thinking, and a desire to join a fast-paced, high-growth startup.

Responsibilities Include

  • Develop and lead a team of highly qualified maintenance coordinators through diagnosing problems and fulfilling optimal resolutions
  • Mentor and train maintenance coordinators to increase their overall knowledge base and skillset
  • Provide excellent customer service and communicate resolutions to homeowners if questions arise
  • Create playbooks and workflows to handle common maintenance requests


  • Minimum of 1-3 years experience of construction or maintenance operations
  • Growth-mindset and passion for continuously improving, highly coachable with ability to self-reflect, internalize, and apply feedback
  • Quick learner with ability to adapt and take initiative in a high-level in a fast-paced constantly changing environment
  • Impeccable organization, attention to detail, and ability to handle high volume and manage your own time
  • Comfortable using online platforms such as Zendesk or Front, and fluent in support management
  • Ability to think critically about how our team can continually improve scalable processes
  • Positive attitude, delivers on commitments and enjoys working with a close-knit team
  • Strong desire to take ownership, build long-term relationships, and help us become a national brand


  • Previous management experience in Property Management, maintenance vendors (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, general, painters, etc.), construction workers, or hotel maintenance
  • HVAC or other maintenance certification a plus
  • Previous managerial experience preferred
  • Vendor management experience
  • Passion for property management and real estate
